Muscle and Nutrition

Nutrition
Hello to you all today. Sorry, I've had some internet issues, but I'm back and here we go!

I have two issues to address today. The first is regarding building muscle. Muscle burns fat. This is a fact. If you work out with weights you are getting slimmer because your getting tighter. your muscles are getting tight. If your lifting weights then you need to eat. The recommendation is that you eat every two to three hours. I can't do it. I can eat when I'm hungry or I can have a snack, but a meal, even a small one, I cannot do. As a Beach Body coach we recommend Shakeology. It is one of the best meal replacements out there. It has the backing of doctors. I do not use it. Not because it's not a good product, but because it is processed on equipment that also produces shellfish products. I am allergic to shellfish. I decided to not take the chance that the machinery is not well cleaned one day. There is also a Vegan version of Shakeology. But, since I cannot seem to get an answer as to how it's processed I do not use it. I have had people email me and ask what to use instead of Shakeology that is not so expensive but still has good qualities as a meal replacement. So, what do I use instead of Shakeology? Well, GNC has a great tasty shake called Lean 25. I was using this. It's an awesome replacement, tastes good and there are no allergy issues with the mix. Unfortuneately, they discontinued the individual packets. I like these because I can take them with me. They taste wonderful. I really like the idea of using something organic (yes, organic girl here). I have found Garden of Life.

Garden of Life is a great product. It comes in a natural flavor so I can mix it in with my fruit smoothies and not have it overpower the drink. You actually don't taste it. They also have a vanilla and a chocolate that tastes really good. It's affordable about $20 for the small canister and it lasts. I use it everyday. Here's one of the great things about it. On the label it says "Raw, vegan, certified organic, dairy free, lactose free, soy free, no fillers, no synthetic nutrients, no artificial flavors or sweetners, no preservatives, no pea protein". This stuff is the real deal. Oh, and if you need fiber this stuff is wonderful. I can't even tell you how well it works to help empty the bowel system.

If you are working out regularly then you need nutrition, even if your not working with weights. It gives your body something to do. It keeps you full and your metabolism moving. If you add a weight workout to your weekly routine you will notice your muscles responding quickly. They are waiting for attention. It dosen't matter what workout your doing, add in some weights. For those of you who are hitting my age, 50, remember this, this is when we start to notice loss of muscle tone. Are your arms still waving goodbye after you stop waving? The only way to keep your muscle is to build it and feed it. It keeps you in shape, helps to stave off weight gain and keeps you looking great in your jeans!

Are You in Hybernation Mode?

A Way Out Of Hibernation!

Hibernation, the reason we don't see bears and other animals all winter. We also experience a hibernation. As winter goes on and it gets cold and rainy we tend to stay inside more. We eat a heavier diet to satisfy ourselves and we sit in front of the t.v. or the fireplace. We stop moving! We are content to stay in our nice warm cocoons. This is great. . .if your a bear. A bear sleeps all winter. He eats what he needs to survive the long cold days and nights. If we did this we would gain more weight than we want. And, in fact, a lot of us do! So, what to do?

Do not hibernate! Use the time indoors to get your workout done, even an extra workout. your body still has the same need to move. Eat foods that are filling, but don't make you want to eat more than your used to. For instance, I make home-made chicken noodle soup. It's completely awesome! But, I don't need to eat more than a cup and I have these great soup mugs, so I can easily see how much I'm eating. I also do my regular workout and I'll do a shorter work out in the evening just so my body can move. Not to say that I don't watch t.v, but I try to keep moving.

I also start thinking about summer! I actually love the winter and all the winter sports I partake in. But, summer will be here sooner than we think! And, with summer comes summer clothes! Bathing suits, shorts, tank tops. . .and I'm not willing to let my muscles get soft over the winter. I do not want to start from square one to get into summer shape again. Your summer shape starts in the winter. . .December or January.

Some people start to saying it's too cold, I just don't feel like it, I don't want to change into workout clothes. sound familiar. Here's a little number for you 1.73%. If you work out just an hour a day it's only 1.73% of your day. Anyone has that much time. Here's another excuse for you. I don't have the time. Well, most of you know I'm a BeachBody Coach. There are plenty of BeachBody workouts that take only 30 minutes of your time. T25 is only a 25 minute workout! The new P90X3 is only 30 minutes. . .30 minutes people! Hip Hop Abs has some great workouts and they take from 45 to 20 minutes. OK, now whats your excuse? Wouldn't it be great to start the Spring with a new toned body. While all your friends are saying "I have to loose this 20 pounds I gained over the winter", you'll be showing off a nice toned, trim, in shape body that's almost beach ready!

I'm on my last month of Chalene Extreme, a weighted workout. I can't wait to be finished. I've already gone from a size 22 to a 10. I will be beach ready! I will not hibernate! Will you be ready?

Don't Trust The Numbers

Be Your Own Inspiration

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday. If you fell off the wagon, so to speak, you can get back on. No harm, no foul. We all did! Yes, I love my Pumpkin pie and I made at least three Pineapple Upside Down Cakes! Yes, I was spreading the weight gain train! Here was my experience this weekend with my own body and my own body image.

Do you follow the numbers on your scale? I hate scales and never use one. This is the reason why. This weekend was the busiest shopping weekend in the nation, right? So, I decided that I should stop looking like some shlump and get some clothes that actually fit my body. I was a size 22 and I still see myself in that body. But, I finally had to see myself as I NOW am. Everything was so big on me! My legs are so toned and they were swimming in these oversized jeans. I had all these xtra large shirts and I just looked really sloppy, like I didn't care about myself.
I went out to the outlets here in california and my favorite jeans store, Levis, was having an awsome sale. I haven't worn Levis since I was a size 8 in my 20s'. I went in and the sales lady actually had to explain the different types of jeans to me, curvy, straight curvy, slight curve, etc. It was almost embarrasing. I explained to her that I had lost 130 pounds and was not sure what size I was now wearing. She helped me find my size and I went from a size 22 to a size. . .ready. . .drum roll. . .10! This is why I don't trust my scale and why I don't own one. I trust my body.
Trust your body, trust your clothes, trust what you see in the mirror!

Sorry for the small print. I copied and pasted a post I made on my BeachBody site.

Remember, as always, you can follow my journey or you can join me!

Always Happy To Be Me

Get Addicted To This! My favorite artist is Salvador Dali. I love his surreal art. One of my favorite pieces is The Metamorphsis of Narcissus. It's such a beautiful piece. One of my favorite quotes comes from the man himself;

"Each morning when I awake, I experience again a supreme pleasure,
    That of being Salvador Dali".

I love this! He is happy to be him. I am happy to be me. With everything in life, I am happy to be me. I can be no one else. People will criticize what you do and how you do it no matter what. I have been criticized for joining BeachBody and trying to help people loose the weight without going to surgery. There are so many people out there that want to loose weight the natural way that I feel like I am filling a need. The diet for weight loss surgery is basically mush. And, you have to eat it for weeks! If you can do something by not having surgery then, as far as I am concerned, it should be tried. The natural way is always harder. But, you have to look at weight loss in this way. You didn't wind up this way overnight and it's not going to be an overnight fix. You have to be dedicated to yourself. If you don't do it for yourself then it won't work. You have to be happy with yourself before you can be happy with someone else or before you can make someone else happy. I mean truly happy. The people I have spoken to are surface happy. They are not deep down happy. They all say the samething "something is missing". I'm not a psychiatrist or even in the mental health profession, but I do know this. . .happiness is something we give ourselves.

I am happy with myself. Yes, I have been a fuck up. I have made mistakes and I have even hurt a few people along my path, never intentionally. But, in the long run I've done the best I can and I have made myself happy with my decisions. I am the type of person who is honest. . .no matter what. I will tell you the truth and my true close friends appreciate that quality in me. I'm not going to tell you the dress looks awful on you. I would never hurt your feelings, but I will tell you it's not to my liking, if it makes you happy thats great. These are my rules for me:

1) Tell the truth. Theres less to hide.
2) Do not be a hypocrite, do not invite hypocrites into my space.
3) Do not invite someone you do not like to a party, your being a hypocrite for the sake of a possible gift.
4) I either like you, dislike you or am indifferent to you.
5) I do not stop anyone from living their lives. If you think I stopped you, you are mistaken.
6) If you ask my opinion you will get it. . .truthfully.
7) If I called you a shithead I meant it.
8) If you have the answer to stop someones suffering and you don't give it up, your a shithead.
9) I do not ever hurt someone for the sake of hurting them. If you think I did, you are mistaken.
10) I do what I do for a reason and I never back something I do not believe in! EVER!

That being said I am a BeachBody coach becausse I believe in it. Yes, I have questions and some problems with some of the things that they do. But, all in all they are a great comapny and they help alot of people, one of them was myself. The link is at the top. . .check it out!

Here is my weekly receipe for you. If any of you actually try these receipes I would LOVE some feedback!

Make Yourself Accountable

Time To Get Real

How do you make yourself accountable for the things you do for YOURSELF? Most of us go around doing what needs to be done for everyone else, children, husband, co-workers, boss, etc. But, we don't do for ourselves. I make myself accountable for me by doing my workout everyday. When I skip a day I do a double workout, I love those workouts. When we make ourselves accountable to ourselves we tend to make time for ourselves. We, as the caregivers, need to take good care of ourselves. My family knows that when I am working out that my time. Leave me alone. I'm not asking for much maybe an hour, hour and a half. If I don't get that workout I don't feel as good about indulging in my favorite vice. . .ICE CREAM! It's sweet, it's decadent and it will put the pounds on you if you let it. But, since I hold myself accountable for my personal well being and I do that workout I totally enjoy my ice cream.

You nutrition is important too. Do you hold yourself accountable for the amount of, for lack of a better word, junk? How many days a week are you eating out? How many times a week did you have a McDonalds lunch because you were in a hurry and didn't have time for something better? It's important that we eat what gives our bodies the ultimate in nutrition. I take my lunch everynight and I eat at the same time everynight, give or take a half hour. If I don't eat my body starts to tell me about it. It literally feels like my stomach is imploding on itself. I try to eat something every two hours. Now, that dosen't mean I'm having a meal. I'm eating a meal ans the ntwo hours later I'm having a snack. Everything is packed in my lunch box. Not, only am I being accountable to myself for myself, but I'm giving my body something to do. I'm keeping my metabolism moving so their is no storing of anything. Nutrition is a great thing especially when it's one regularly and accountably. If you are accountable for yourself then your family gets all the benefits. When you go to the store to shop and your being accountable for what going through your mouth and into your body your you are also bringing better nutrition to your family. Lets face it, they eat what they see us eating. We develop their nutritional accountability. As they get older they will always do what their moms do. My daughter is a prime example. she eats whats in the house. But, when she goes out with her friends she makes better choices. Not to say  that she dosen't eat pizza, but she also likes Curry and Thai food and makes those suggestions to her friends. It's all about whats in your kitchen, what you bring into your home. It's all about accountability. Lets face it it starts with us. Be accountable for yourself first. Take the time you need.

Heres a little something for you to look into. The Play Store for your android has some great apps. Heres one I found, it was recommended, it looked like the best of the bunch. It's called My Fitness App. Check it out and see if it is something that can help you. You can also download a food calorie counter. The ones at the bookstore are also downloadable to your phone so you can check the calories on that fast food.

Resetting In Progress

This was one tough week! Usually I'm the one everyone can't keep up with. But, this weekend was so different. I was so worn out, it was crazy! So, I decided to reset myself and do a cleanse. The body can get so gunked up with everything in life. We get stressed out and our bodies go into a different mode. We get constipated, headaches, loss of appitite and a whole host of other bad things. A cleanse can help set things right.

I choose a weekend where there is nothing going on. We have a great cleanse called the Ultimate Reset. It's a great way to reset your body. You can liken it to getting your car oil changed. Your Liver is your bodies filter and it needs cleaning just as your car needs a new one. Your bowels take nutrients to the rest of the body, just as your fuel system delivers gas to the engine so you can go. Everything gets gunked up. I add a cleanser to my engine before an oil change. It gets all the old gunk and when they empty the oil out of the car there is all this gunky, oily kind of slimy ball stuff that falls out. It's really nasty. Now, imagine this stuff in your Liver and in your Bowels. . .EEEEEWWW!

I do my cleanse and I drink my reset, water and have fruit, mix my green drinks and have a small amount of food. I'm one of those people that goes straight to bitch if I don't eat! So, I adjust my cleanse to nourish my body. There is no system out there that can be followed exactly. You will find that when you do a cleanse your body will tell you what it needs. You should respond appropriately. NEVER starve yourself for the sake of cleansing. You can always extend your cleanse. You should always be safe. . .no matter what.

There are many different cleanses out there. The Ultimate Cleanse may not be for you. You are free to choose the best one for you. Just make sure you get all the information on any cleanse you do. You may even choose to try a couple of different ones before you choose a favorite. I do suggest you check with your doctor before doing a cleanse. They probably have some good tips for you and may even be able to suggest one for you. Please, REMEMBER, if you are on any medications you should never forego taking your medicine to cleanse. Your doctor may be able to help you pick a cleanse that will not interfer with your medications. Yes, there are some out there that may have contraindications for your medications. The cleanse may have something that will not react well with your medications. You can also request that your doctor set you up with a nutritionist who can help you pick a cleanse.

As usual, I have a nice receipe for you. It's one of my favorites and it's easy to make. Check below.

SALMON PATTIES
Either fresh salmon (my favorite) or canned salmon (you'll have to shred it and watch out for bones in the canned salmon)
1 celery stalk
1 onion
1-2 eggs
flour
salt & pepper

Place the salmon in a mixing bowl, watching out for bones while shredding it. Put the celery (to taste) and a piece of the onion (to taste) in a food chopper and pulse the "grind" button until you have small to tiney pieces. Add to the salmon in the mixing bowl. Add flour and an egg (this is for binding). Mix all together.
Add the salt and the pepper, to taste, but not much. When it's all mixed properly make little patties and put them in the pan and cook them.
I add bread that I warmed and toasted in the oven and a vegetable. We like Spinach!

As usual, you can follow my journey or you can join me! Reset Yourself

It's An Ego Boost!

Fit At Any Age

What a week! I have been recovering from a run down mentality, run down nutrition and just life in general. I'm back at it and figuering it out. Even a fit coach can overdue it. I'm a real person. I overdue it. . .and I pay for it. But, what really got me this week were the compliments. When you work hard for what you want, you get results. So, here are a couple of my ego boosters this week.

I was cleaning my house and looked like I should be put in the washing machine! I was hungry and wanted Rangoons from Panda Express. So, I get there and there is this cute guy ordering. He looks at me and smiles, I smile back. I order and he's paying. As he walks out he smiles at me, raises his eyebrow and says "your cute" then walks out of the restaurant. I was like EEEEEEEEEE! To get a guy, a stranger to say something like that to you when you look the way I looked is nothing short of AWSOME!!!

I was at the grocery store and was getting milk. I had to reach up to get my type. And, this guy was standing next to me. If you do Chalene Extreme then you know that she does alot of squats and that means a nice looking ass! As I grabbed my milk this guy says to me "you have the best looking butt I've seen in a long time and I go to the gym"! Ok, I'm good for the day.

I was getting the mail and was on the front deck of my house. One of my neighbors comes by and just stops and looks at me. I said "hi" and he comes up to my fence and says "YOU are a one beautiful beast"! I just said "what"? He asked me if I had a boyfriend and thentells me that he lives down the street if I ever decide to leave my boyfriend and want some company. It must have been the new definition in my arms because they are looking pretty good.

So, what am I trying to say? Well, these are the results you get when you stick to something that is good for you. Nutrition, working out, just being good to yourself. You are worth what you want to put into yourself. Everyone needs something for themselves. My workouts are for me and no one else. You have to do it for you or it won't last.

Well, you can foolw my journey or you can join me. . .the link is at the top.

It's A LifeStyle, Not A Diet!

It's A LifeStyle

Too all of you who have been following me I'm sorry there was no post last week. I was not feeling very well.

Ok, I'm a little tired of people asking me how my diet is going. This is not a "diet" people, it's a lifestyle. It's a choice. The truth is I do not diet. I eat what I want when I want and I enjoy it. I do not sit and eat a whole pie or a gallon of ice cream. I eat a piece and a scoop or two. And, yes, I go back for seconds if I like. I do not like depriving myself of anything, thats a diet. I eat a handful of Toffee Nuts, not the whole bag. I, however, am not perfect. When my boyfriend and I seperated I indulged in ALOT of ice cream! It was not pretty. But, I am human. These things happen. I just got right back on track when I was done indulging the hurt and pain of that. Remember this, taking something out of your normal nutritional pattern only makes you want it more. I'd rather eat half a Hershey bar, than devoure the whole thing. . .save some for later.

The other thing is this, I'm tired of people asking me how to get the perfect body. There is NO perfect body! There is the body that is perfect for you! It's what you perceive as the perfect body for yourself. I could just go to maintenance today if I didn't still have this belly that I hate! My perfect image of myself does not include this belly. It needs more work. I have an inferiority complex that involves my arms. I have always hated them. At this point, they look nice. They are nicely cut, not to muscular and for the first time I actually CHOSE to wear a tank top and was happy with the way my arms looked. It's important to remember that no ones body is perfect. You work to make your body perfect for you. It's your image of yourself. When I started Insanity I hated aerobics. . .EWWWWW! But, areobics works for me. It helped me get in shape, it gave me the jumpstart I needed. Now, I can't seem to do without it. Chalene Extreme was too slow for me, still is. But, It has made me tighter and smaller. I needed the heavier weights, but it worked. I am now going into month two and definately need smaller jeans.

You must remember, it's about you. It's about what you see as perfect. I was a size 22. That is not even close to what I consider perfect for myself. I am now a size 10 and will go to size 8 jeans this week. By the end of my journey I will probably be a size 6. This strikes fear into my daughter, she's a size 5 and does not want me in her jeans! It'll never happen, but it's nice to know she thinks about it. If I get where I need to be and stay at a size 8 that will be fine. But, that is what I would consider my perfect size. It was my pre-baby size, my college size and the size I was in my 20s. It was a good size for me and I can safely and nutritionally maintain that weight and size. STOP letting other people decide where you should be sizewise, nutritionally, mentally and lifewise. Do whats right for you. This one thing in life is all about you. . .take control of it.

Remember, you can follow my journey or you can join me, the link is at the top.

We All Do It!

We All Do IT! Did you know we all overdo it? Here's the scuttlebutt. We all overeat on occasion and, boy, I did it right! I had a very busy day. I didn't really eat all day. It was more like a snacking day. I didn't sit and eat. I worked out, but didn't really take the time to sit and feed my body. By dinnertime I wasn't just hungry, I was so hungry it felt like my stomach was going to implode on itself. Of course, I was out and not able to cook. So, there was Subway. Fairly healthy and I can make it healthier. Instead of eating the 6", I order the 12'. WHAT was I thinking!? My dinner was a 12' turkey with, mustard, mayo, cheese, lettice, tomatoes, pickles, olives, bacon, oil & vinegar, salt & pepper! Oh, large iced tea AND a bag of chips. Don't forget the cookie! When you work out regularly you just don't need to eat that much. Your body is more efficent and burns your food more efficently. Bottom line. . .I was in so much pain! My stomach felt like it was going to explode. It was the worst pain ever. I was finally able to get up off the couch and I started to walk around the house. I got into my bedroom and started to work my abs out. I needed my body to start processing that food! I did short bursts of an ab workout and then rested. I finally started to get comfortable again. I was so full I didn't eat again until the next day. Believe me, I got back on track. So, as you an see, even coaches overdo it and, yes, we regret it. But, we get right back on track. One mistake does not mean failure. It means you simply got off track. Life today is fast and we need to slow it down, thats what our workout are for. We speed up to slow down. We work our bodies to calm our minds and control our lives. So, just remember. . .it's ok. You can follow my journey or you can join me. The link is at the top! Just Press Play! Susan

100 Doctors & Nutrition

100 Doctors!
I'm always talking about my journey through the world of fitness. But, along with the fitness goes nutrition. I know it's hard to eat well all  the time. Lets face it we all love those McDonald's fries. One of my favorite treats is the number 1 at McDonald's. . .Big Mac meal. Yeah, I know. but, it's a reward, not a way of life. I also enjoy Cheetos Puffs and a good old fashioned Hershey Bar. . .with nuts! I'm about eating what I want in moderation.
With the holidays coming it's important to start practicing eating in moderation. Since I work out 6 days a week when I overeat my stomach hurts so bad it's incredible. I didn't know I could be so VERY UNCOMFORTABLE! When I started on my road to nutritional health I cut out ALL soda. Did you know that if you cut out one Diet Coke a day you could potentially lose 1 pound a month! That's significant. You could replace that soda, all soda with an Izzy. I love those, especially the Blackberry and the Grapefruit. I drink juice in moderation, water, iced tea (sweet tea is usually to sweet) and a number of organic juices. This is a good place to start. Water is so essential for our bodies. I like to call it the "nectar of the gods". It is totally refreshing, feeds and helps to cleanse the body and is great for the skin keeping it hydrated.
I know it's hard. It was hard for me. Work, kids, extracurricular activity and just life in general. My secret was my Crock Pot! I L-O-V-E my Crock Pot! I put it on before I go to work and when I get home I have a hot meal for my family. All I have to do is steam some veggies (5 minutes) and make a salad (5 minutes). It's just so easy and the amount of items you can make in it are un-numerable. chicken is the best and the easiest.
The link at the top this week is for a meal replacement. It's a good place to start if your a busy mom, dad, student or just a busy person. check it out. And, as usual, here is a recipe for your health an nutrition.

Here's a recipe for a better nights sleep:
1 banana
1 medjool date
1 fig
12 cashews
add almond milk and blend

Lookin' Good!!!

Get Noticed

So, here's a short story that just delighted the hell out of me. It makes me want to get up and get my workout done everyday just so It can happen again!

Well, I work a shift that's mostly guys. I'm just one of the guys, really. They don't pay to much attention to me. We talk, we have lunch in the lunchroom, we pal around. Well, last week one of the guys looked at me and said, "WOW! Are you loosing weight? You look awsome"! I said thanks and before I knew it he says, "Your curves are like. . .curvey! You have some nice curves, girl"! I said thanks and went on my way.
But, I had this great smile on my face!

I work so hard working out, eating right (yeah, I cheat occasionally), making sure make time for myself and trying to just keep myself, my home and my kid together. This was concrete validation that all my hard work is showing! I'm transforming my body and it's all good. Last week my legs hurt so bad, but today they just look great and they feel pretty good.

So, keep working, keep getting up and doing it. PUSH! It only hurts for a short time.

Heres a nice receipe for a sweet treat. I make it with all organic stuff. Make it to taste.
This is a non-bake cookie. So, you just need a pot.
1/2 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
1c1/4 sugar (you an use less. This amount makes it really sweet. I use less.)
Boil 3-5 minutes then remove from the flame
4 heaping tbs. cocoa (use baking cocoa, no sweetness)
1/2c peanut butter (smooth or nutty)
1/4c coconut (optional)
2 1/2 - 3c of oats (any type of oatmeal will do)
1 tsp. vanilla
Stir it all together, spoon it onto wax paper so you get cookie sized, or larger, cookies.
I put them in the refrigerator so they get hard, but you can eat them right out of the pot. ENJOY!

New Day, New Juice

Results Are Waiting!

Hey it's Hump Day!! Otherwise known as Wednesday. Today I did my second workout with Chalene Extreme, Burn #2. I really do like her style of coaching you through the workout. She's just really relaxed and nice about it. I did learn that Janelle is her sister! It's awesome that her family is willing to work with her (her husband is in the Basic DVD).
The first day I was a little disappointed. It was slower than I normally go. I mean, c'mon, I just finished Insanity. And, I didn't seem to get the results I was looking for. . .instant! But, you have to stick to a new routine and adjust. Having just finished Insanity my upper arm strength is better than it's ever been. I wasn't thinking about lifting weights and my new found muscle in the same thought pattern. The weights I had were great for Insanity. . .but not CE. CE is a whole other level!
Today I did my second workout Burn #2. I still need heavier weights. I did find my 5 ponders, they just weren't enough. I need 10 and 15 ponders, THEN I should be able to feel the "fail" point. I do, however, feel the pain in my legs. That lower body workout was killer. She had my legs shaking and definitely reaching their work point. So, at this point I'm still waiting to see what happens with this workout, but I am getting very happy with it.

Below is a great Green Juice recipe. I love this. Yes, it does taste a little like grass, but you can add just a taste of honey and it will help. If you don't like honey then you'll have to take it straight, you can follow with an orange wedge!

CHARD, GREEN APPLE, GREEN PEPPER, ROMAINE LETTUCE, CELERY, PURPLE CABBAGE
You can omit whatever you don't like and add more of one of the other ingredients. I don't like the peppers so I add mor chard and green apple.

T-Shirt Excitement!

This is the post I just posted on my BeachBody Team site. As you can see I have had significant success with my BeachBody Workouts. They just don't feel like workout anymore. They are hard and I sweat like crazy! Sometimes I have to stop because I can't see through my glasses! But, they are worth it. I am lookinig at dresses fro the Christmas parties that are upcoming. I've actually never done that before. I received my INSANITY I EARNED IT t-shirt! And, yes! I am a PROUD owner of it. Tomorrow I will be posting all new pictures on my site as I am now poised to start Chalene Exreme on Monday! I am going to replacee my starting picture and my stats. And, this time I will take a picture every 30 days. I bought gloves to protect my hands from the weights and I bought some bigger weights to move along to. I am really excited to start this program. At this time my jeans are to big, my shirts are falling off my shoulders and I can see my oblique lines and my rib and hip lines. I was lying on my side and my daughter asked me what was sticking out from under my shirt. I told her "thats me"! The bottom of my rib cage is now visable when I lie on my side or raise my arms up! It's AMAZING! After CE I am already planning on T25. Sometime in the future I may get to P90X. But, I'm lovin' Shaun T right now, just needed a weighted workout to follow Insanity. I'm not going to be the size I was in high school. . .I'm going to be smaller. JUST PRESS PLAY! Susan WWW.BEACHBODYCOACH.COM/DOIN50RIGHT

Nutrition is Key

Before I started my road down BeachBody and the Insanity workout I lost 133 pounds. . .on my own! Yup, I said one hundred and thirty three pounds! I don't believe that anyone out there needs to have their stomach closed off, stapled, restricted or banded. What we eat is a choice. Do I eat at McDonalds, you betcha! #1, large fries and a plain iced tea, please. The Sweet tea is WAAY to sweet. But, do I eat like that everyday? Nope! I love my crockpot and buying a chicken at the grocery store is much less expensive than Pollo Loco or KFC any day. AND, I know whats in my food because I put it there. I love my local farmers market. They have great fruits and vegetables at good prices. They also have a geltleman who makes bread with NO preservatives and no artificial anything. It's cheaper than the stuff you buy at the grocery store. I buy all my vegetables for a two week period. I buy my fruit to last a week. The point being that the decision about what you put in your mouth is yours. I lost 133 pounds for two reasons, #1 diabetes is a staple in my family and #2 I didn't want my daughter to say "the fat one, thats my mother". When I hit a size 22 that was my turning point. I have been able to keep the weight off for more than three years. Here are some statistics for you: *Heart Disease kills 7.1 MILLION people worldwide every year *in 2009 , 7.9 MILLION deaths were due to CANCER. . .by 2030 CANCER will kill 11 MILLION people per year *in 2030 336 MILLION people worldwide will be diagnosed with DIABETES *2/3 of AMERICANS over the age of 20 are OBESE This is STAGGERING! People are told every day "you are what you eat". If you eat things that are processed all the time then the body slows down, gets clogged and grows. . .in bad ways. Do I think Gastric Bypass is a good thing? Well, honestly, no. The body was meant to move. If you move it things happen. Digestion gets better. Food gets processed better. Nutrients have a chance to get where they are supposed to go in a better way. but, what if you are already blocked and the body needs help? How about a detox and cleaning the colon? Eating better helps the colon work better. That means the nutrients in your food are getting through to your body more sufficently. Detoxing the liver and colon help the body to work better. The Liver is a filter. When a filter clogs nothing gets through, same with the liver. If it can't filter out the bad stuff then the bad stuff gets into the system clogging it up. Lets clean the system. I love making my own smoothies to detox my body. It gives me more energy, I sleep better and all the bad stuff comes out smoothly and timely. Here is one of my favorite detox smoothies; LIVER and COLON TONIC *1-2 handfuls of cleaned collard greens *1 banana *1 cup of pineapple *1 cup of red grapes *1/4 cup of hemp seeds This tastes great and it does the job. It's a good start. I could keep going on nutrition, but this is getting a little long. If you would like more information on nutrition or the BeachBody workouts to help you get started on your way to a new, great you, full of energy just email me or go to my web site at WWW.BEACHBODYCOACH.COM/DOIN50RIGHT You get one life people. . .make it count! Best Thing EVER!

Whats the best thing ever? Being able to take my measurements and having them be less than they were when I started my Insanity program! The only thing that got bigger were my arms, but that is because I gained muscle! Beautiful, structured, molded, cut muscle! This might sound like alot, but I have always been very self-conciuos about my arms. I look at other women and, even though some of them have larger arms than I do, I wonder how they can show those arms. I finally realized it's all about body image. And, my arms said "fat and lazy" to me. I don't know why? But, this has always been my self-concious thing! I would never wear tank tops or even shirts that had the short shoulder sleeves. But now, my arms are great! I am feelin' the love for my arms. And, since one of my workmates challenged me to wear a bathing suit next summer. . .a bikini type bathing suit, I have started a second round of Insanity! Yes, I am officially insane. I am doing Insanity again while I wait for Chalene Extreme. Muscle eats fat and Chalene Extreme is a weighted workout. I can hardly weight for it to arrive. Look, I'm excited about my new body and the new interest in my health. If your overweight (I was) and you want to have a look at getting in shape, for whatever reason, check out my web site. You have nothing to loose. This is not a pitch for you to buy something. I am genuinely interested in helping people get back on track. Just check out my web site, contact me if you like. Beach Body. . .Insanity!

I started this journey a couple of months ago. I had ben staring at the BeachBody informercials for months. I'm not sure what made me finally decide that this was the time. . .actually, I do. I was getting ready to turn 50 and soon to be an empty nester. But, no matter what it was I ordered Insanity! And, yes, I must have been insane to order it. The day it came I opened the box and started to look through all the great stuff inside. I was totally scared to start this program. I had heard stories from the people I worrk with about how hard it was. I work with doctors! None of them finished the program. Most of them didn't get past the Fit Test! But, the next morning I pressed play. I got through the Fit Test, kicked my ass. I went on with the program. I picked Tonya out of the crowd, she's a monster! OMG! Her abs are incredible! I took my measurements and entered them on the BeachBody site, talk about discouraging. But, I lost two inches my first week. I kept at it. It was the first thing I did when I woke up. It was my routine. I could see oblique lines. I could feel hardness under the belly fat, my arms were getting cut, I could actually see the muscle in my shoulders. I made the right choice. At this point I have finished Insanity. I am after my "I Earned It" t-shirt. It's such a small thing, a t-shirt. But, it's a badge. A badge that comes from sweat, work and perseverence. While doing the program I twisted my knee at work. I had to modify the workout some. I couldn't do all the jumping, but I still got great results and I'm happy. Will I do the program again? You BETCHA! I love this workout. I am so throughly excited to start my new program. Next up Chalene Extreme! I know that these programs can help people get a new grip on health. It can change your life. I am so into BeachBody that I became a coach. If you want to feel better, look better and eat better than join me in my quest. Contact me by clicking the "About Me" tab and going to my web site. There is so much information there and I am ready to answer any questions to help you get started. 50 Is Not The End!

50. The number incites riots inside of a persons brain. Suddenly, life is over. No more fun, special diets, time for rocking chairs, warm water bottles and GasX. Yeah, RIGHT! Not for this chick. I am excited about turning 50. I am embracing it, lovin' it. I have special plans for my 50th and they do not include sitting around reminiscing about my twenties, getting drunk with a bottle of wine and friends! I hate wines. I had wonderful twenties. I loved my twenties. But, life goes on and every era has had there ups and downs, highlights and disappointments. In my twenties I was a size 8. I was cute had a little ass and plenty of boyfriends to keep me busy for days, drove my father crazy! I swam three times a week and had a regular tennis partner. Then came marraige (why?), my beautiful daughter, divorce and there went my confidence out the door, along with my body, self-worth and basic health. I rebounded, got my health together (turns out I had a long running thyroid prblem) and went into a profession that would support myself and my daughter no questions asked. Flash forward to my forties. My brother turns up diabetic, but we had diabeties running through our dads side of the family. Then my mother turns up with it, HUGH shock! Then at 45, here it came. I lost 133 pounds! On my own, by myself, no help. My AH HA moment was when I was trying on clothes and I was trying on a size 22. I was looking at myself and my brain kicked in "What the fuck am I doing in a size 22? How did this happen. What the fuck. I was cute, I was active. What the hell happened"? That was my turning point. I've been able to keep the weight off. I changed my eating habits, went organic on all the things we really eat, cut out soda, added water and started to keep a food diary to see where I was going wrong. . .and right. I dropped the weight and I am now a size 10/12 and I wear large, not x-large or xx-large shirts. Funny point, I didnt know that when you loose weight you also loose it in your feet! My shoes suddenly got loose and I had to buy new shoes. I've donated most of my large size clothes and shoes. I will be 50 in August. I plan on being at least two sizes smaller, I said at least. I plan on going to Las Vegas to visit friends and watching their jaws hit the floor. I want to hear my sister say "what the FUCK have you been doing? Are you sick"? I'm going to Catalina on my birthday and I'm ziplining and I'm going to drive Formula One Race Cars at the California Racing Track. In vegas I plan on shopping for clothes. . . in a new size, skydiving and I'm getting my first tatoo! I've always wanted one and now is the time. So, thats it in a nutshell. There's more, but why bore you with my personal inner searches. I'm feeling good and I am excited about the best part of my life being upon me!
